Militants kill Tunisia soldier near Algeria border
Associated Press
TUNIS, Tunisia: Tunisia's Defense Ministry says a soldier was killed and a civilian wounded after militants opened fire on military post near the Algerian border.

The statement Sunday said the attack on a military base in the town of Sbeitla took place overnight and at least two of the attackers were wounded.

Security forces arrested 10 people in connection with the attack.

A police post in the nearby city of Kasserine was also attacked that night, but there were no casualties.

More than a dozen Tunisian soldiers have been killed in a series of attacks over the past month in the rugged areas near the Algerian borders where al-Qaida-linked militants are believed to be hiding.

Tunisia is battling radical armed Islamists with links to the Algerian branch of al-Qaida.
